Kilifi Gold Triathlon 2024: A Day of Teamwork and Triumph

The Kilifi Gold Triathlon 2024, held on September 28, was a memorable event filled with excitement, competition, and camaraderie. Our team, consisting of Kimani and Lilian (running), Benjamin and Queenie the “cow” (swimming), and Charles and Isaac (cycling), arrived at the stunning Mnarani Beach Club the day before to recharge and prepare.

Saturday kicked off with an early morning dive by Benjamin to prepare for the ocean swim. After breakfast, we collected our bikes and set off for event registration, proudly donning our JWS-branded T-shirts. With the sun high, we refreshed with a quick swim and were ready for the race by 2 PM.

The triathlon unfolded with each team member giving their best. Benjamin and Queenie led the way in the swim, followed by Charles and Isaac on the cycling leg, and finally Kimani and Lilian finishing strong in the running category. The support from our Watamu colleagues, Sebastian and Juliet, kept our spirits high.

We were recognized with three shout-outs for our contributions as top sponsors and for Queenie’s impressive swim. The event ended with a great sense of accomplishment, leaving us all proud of the collective effort and teamwork. We equally finally got our medals of honour!

The weekend concluded with a relaxing Sunday drive to Watamu, capping off an unforgettable experience. The Kilifi Gold Triathlon was not just a race, but a celebration of endurance, teamwork, and community. We look forward to the next one!
