The importance of Life Insurance – a message from our Chairman, Joe Seagon.

By Joe Seagon

“I came to Kenya in October 1958 and sold my first Life Insurance policy here in early 1959.  I am still at it in 2019!!!”

I have sold hundreds of policies in my time and settled many very sad claims. More often than not these policies are effected by the head of the Family with the sole intention to ensure other family members are left well provided for in the event of his or her own death.

That, after all is the object of Life Insurance – to provide protection for a family.

Of late we have been involved in some very sad high value claims some over the value of $1 million, and sometimes for policies that have only been in force for little more than a year. The policies have been paid out with no argument, strictly in accordance with information provided to us at the quotation stage. I still get a huge amount of satisfaction from being able to help our clients’ families in some small way.

There seems to be a negative approach in Kenya towards life insurance where the attitude persists that

“I am all right Jack, I am here for the long term and don’t need cover thank you very much”.

Why be like that when good protection can be bought at a very reasonable cost. Call me old school but I want to know that my family will be financially secure after I am gone.

At least, give us a try! There is no charge for our services.

We meet you, discuss your family situation, explain the policy in detail, and give you a cost. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to take it.

Watching the news everyday and living in Africa I am always reminded how fragile life is and how quickly it can be taken from us. In my opinion we don’t have the luxury of waiting until tomorrow.

We need to take matters into our hands today!

Yours Sincerely,
Joe Seagon
