Industry Leaders Convene to Discuss the Future of Aircraft Finance, Leasing and Insurance in East Africa
Following the success of last year’s event, JW Seagon Insurance Brokers and Spencer West LLP were delighted to co-host another aviation seminar in Nairobi. The event brought together operators, financiers, regulators, lawyers, insurers and other industry stakeholders for an engaging discussion on the opportunities and emerging challenges shaping East Africa’s aviation sector.
The seminar provided an important platform for industry leaders to exchange insights on key issues affecting aviation today. Discussions focused on the evolving commercial, legal, financial and insurance landscape, while underscoring the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable growth across the sector.
Moderated by David Nolan, Chief Commercial Officer, the panel explored a broad range of topics, including aviation finance and access to capital, the legal and regulatory landscape surrounding aircraft leasing, and the insurance and litigation environment following aviation accidents. The discussion also considered the opportunities available to stakeholders as East Africa’s aviation sector continues to grow and evolve.
The discussion was enriched by a distinguished panel comprising Simon Toms, Executive Director at Willis Towers Watson; Capt. Gilbert Macharia Kibe, Managing Director of Air Transport Consulting Ltd; Liz Aluvanze, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO); Robert Marete, Deputy Director at NCBA Leasing LLP; and Haanee Khan, Founding Managing Partner of Spencer West LLP – Kenya. Together, they brought diverse perspectives from across the aviation, legal, financial and insurance sectors, contributing to a focused and thought-provoking exchange.
Open and collaborative discussions such as these play a vital role in unlocking the sector’s potential and supporting the economic growth it can drive. The conversation highlighted the need for strong collaboration among operators, financiers, insurers, regulators and legal professionals to address industry challenges and foster a resilient, sustainable aviation ecosystem.
JW Seagon Insurance Brokers extends its sincere appreciation to our moderator, panellists and all attendees who contributed to the discussion. Your expertise, insights and active participation made the seminar a valuable forum for knowledge sharing and meaningful industry dialogue.
